We are excited to share that we have recently completed advanced training and certification in Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE Basic)—a powerful, research-based approach designed to help students strengthen how they think, learn, and process information.

What is the Feuerstein Method?

The Feuerstein Method, developed by Reuven Feuerstein and supported by the Feuerstein Institute, is based on the belief that intelligence is not fixed. Through intentional, guided learning experiences, students can improve their thinking skills and develop new cognitive pathways—a concept known as neuroplasticity.

Rather than focusing only on what a student learns, the Feuerstein Method teaches how to learn.

What Students Gain Through FIE

Students who participate in FIE often experience meaningful cognitive growth, including:

  • Improved cognitive functions (28 essential thinking skills)

  • Stronger critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • A growth mindset and increased confidence

  • Enhanced neuroplasticity—helping the brain adapt and change

Research from the Feuerstein Institute shows that when students are explicitly taught how to think—through mediated learning and structured cognitive tasks—they can make lasting improvements in learning, regardless of starting point.

How It Helps with Focus and Attention

One of the most impactful outcomes of the Feuerstein Method is improved focus and attention, especially for students who struggle in these areas.

Students engage in structured, hands-on tasks that require:

  • Sustained attention

  • Careful observation

  • Planning and organization

  • Flexible thinking

With guided support, students learn to slow down, think through problems, and stay engaged from beginning to end. Over time, they begin to:

  • Maintain focus even in distracting environments

  • Think before responding (improved self-regulation)

  • Break tasks into manageable steps

  • Become more aware of their own thinking (metacognition)

Why This Matters for Students with Attention Challenges

For students with attention difficulties, including ADHD, the Feuerstein Method targets the root cognitive skills behind focus and executive function—not just the symptoms.

Through cognitive enrichment and specialized activities (including tactile and movement-based learning), students build:

  • Attention and concentration

  • Impulse control

  • Planning and organization

  • Mental flexibility

This approach strengthens the brain’s ability to manage learning demands, often serving as a powerful complement to other supports.

Our Approach: Helping Students Think, Focus, and Thrive

By integrating FIE with our existing therapy, we are able to more intentionally develop each child’s ability to:

  • Focus with purpose

  • Think critically

  • Approach challenges with confidence

Our goal is not just academic success—but helping students truly understand how they learn so they can thrive in all areas of life.
