Core Academic Tutoring

At Discovery Therapy of the Lowcountry, we offer individualized academic tutoring for students in grades K–8 who need support in core subjects such as reading, writing, and math. Our approach goes beyond homework help — we integrate targeted cognitive and learning strategies that strengthen attention, memory, processing, and problem-solving skills.

By combining direct instruction with research-based techniques that build the underlying foundations for learning, we help students not only catch up but also develop the tools and confidence to become independent, successful learners.

Informal Assessment

We tailor instruction to meet the needs of the student. We first identify which skills need to be strengthened using informal assessments to identify areas that limit potential for success. Assessment information is crucial in understanding your child's unique academic strengths and challenges.

Individualized Plan

Based on the assessment data, we create an individualized plan tailored to their learning style and needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and strategies to succeed. Our goal is to provide a personalized educational experience that fosters growth and confidence in your child's learning journey.

Progress Monitor

Weekly progress updates are shared as well as communication with the child's teachers. Long and short term goals are established with parents and teachers.
